Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the sports world had expressed condolences for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
